Mandvi, Gujarat, January 12, 2026: A doctor in Gujarat has been booked for illegally practising allopathic medicine without proper qualifications, amid allegations linked to a religious conversion case. The accused, identified as Dr. Ankit Chaudhary, is a homeopathy practitioner who operates the New Life Clinic in Mandvi and Jhankhaav. He has been booked for illegally practising allopathic medicine without the required qualifications.
Dr. Chaudhary was previously arrested in December 2025 in connection with the alleged rape and forced religious conversion of a Hindu girl and now faces additional charges for illegally practicing allopathic medicine.
Acting on inputs from an ongoing religious conversion investigation, Mangol Division Deputy Superintendent of Police B.K. Vanar conducted a raid at Chaudhary's residence in the Bhaga Faliya area of Lakh village. The search operation resulted in the seizure of allopathic medicines valued at over ₹58,000.
The confiscated stock comprised approximately 15 different types of medicines, including:
Tablets for mental health treatment
Antibiotic injections
Creams for skin diseases
Malaria injections
Painkillers
According to police officials, Dr. Chaudhary holds only a degree in homeopathy. The seized medications can legally be prescribed exclusively by MBBS or MD-qualified doctors, as confirmed by a medical officer.
Investigators also claimed that he targeted poor and illiterate tribal patients by offering free treatment while practicing allopathy to trap vulnerable communities.
The illegal medical practice came to light during investigations into a separate case filed in December 2025. A married woman who had visited the clinic for her husband's treatment accused Dr. Ankit Chaudhary of exploiting her trust, establishing a physical relationship under false promises of marriage, and subsequently pressuring her to convert to Christianity.
The complainant alleged that Dr. Chaudhary abused her for nearly two years. During the investigation, she also implicated Ramji Chaudhary, Dr. Ankit's father and principal of Pipalvada Primary School, along with others, in coercing her conversion to Christianity. The alleged conversion reportedly took place on April 20, 2025, during Easter celebrations.
Following the investigation, police confirmed the woman's allegations to be credible, leading to the arrest of Ramji Chaudhary. Authorities revealed that Ramji Chaudhary, who served as principal at a government primary school in Pipalwada village, Mandvi taluka, is also associated with a private trust involved in religious activities. Police investigations revealed that the Pray For Ever Lasting Life Charitable Trust was formed in 2014. They also alleged that the trust aimed to convert people from tribal communities by misleading or inducing them. According to the investigators, The trust was started without prior approvals and the accused did not take any permission.
The religious conversion investigation has resulted in the arrest of six individuals, including four government school teachers. Those arrested include:
Gurji Kotiya Vasava (50): Primary school teacher from Railwa Mission Phaliyun in Dediapada
