Indore, November 19, 2025, Police in Indore have booked a pediatrician for allegedly administering an expired vaccine to a 2.5 month old girl and assaulting her parents when they confronted him. The incident took place at Matram Hospital in Sarvodaya Nagar and has triggered widespread outrage among parents and local residents.

Infant Received Vaccine With Expired Date

On the night of Monday, November 17, Rahul and Roshni Thakur took their daughter to Matram Hospital on Sapna Sangeeta Road for routine vaccination. They paid 7030 rupees at the reception before meeting Dr Himanshu Agrawal. The doctor reportedly administered the Hexa 2 vaccine to the baby.

After the vaccination, Rahul checked the wrapper that was pasted onto the child’s medical file. He noticed that the expiry date printed on the wrapper showed May 2025. Shocked and confused, he immediately asked the doctor why an expired vaccine had been used on his infant daughter.

Parents Say Doctor Tried to Remove Evidence

According to the complaint, Dr Agrawal allegedly attempted to pull the original wrapper off the file and replace it with another one. The parents stated that this act convinced them that the vaccine used was indeed expired and that the doctor wanted to cover up the error.

Rahul and Roshni then questioned the doctor repeatedly. They said that instead of addressing their concern, the doctor became angry and allegedly assaulted them inside the hospital. Hospital staff members reportedly joined in and threatened the couple when they insisted on filing a complaint. The family said the staff also forced them to take a refund and keep quiet.

FIR Registered at Juni Indore Police Station

Following the complaint, the Juni Indore police station registered a case against Dr Agrawal. The FIR includes several sections related to endangering life, assault and negligence. Police officials stated that they are investigating both the use of the expired vaccine and the alleged attempt to tamper with evidence.

Family Says Baby Is Their First Child After Eight Years

Rahul shared that this child is their first baby after eight years of waiting. He said the couple chose a private hospital because they wanted the best care for their daughter. The incident left them frightened and emotionally shaken.

He added that the baby cried continuously after the vaccination and appeared unusually lethargic. The couple could not sleep the entire night because they feared possible side effects. They later took the child to another doctor who checked her and said she seemed fine at that time.

As of now, the hospital management has not released any public statement on the allegations. The case has raised concerns about vaccine handling in private clinics and safety protocols during routine immunisation.
