NEET PG 2026 Result: Cut-Off Hits Six-Year Low, AIR 1 Scores 641, Scorecard, Answer Key and Counselling Updates

The NBEMS declared the NEET PG 2026 result on September 24. NEET PG is used for admission to postgraduate medical programmes including MD, MS and PG Diploma courses.

NEET PG 2026 was held on August 30 across 1,111 centres in 339 cities.

A total of 2,63,544 candidates took the NEET-PG 2026 examination on August 30, according to NBEMS. Another 2,416 candidates sat for a re-examination on September 5 after an internal power failure disrupted the test at two iON Digital Zone centres in Sitapura, Jaipur.

NEET PG 2026 Result: Key Details

The qualifying cut-off fell across the reported categories. For General and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates, the cut-off was 262 marks at the 50th percentile. For General candidates under the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category, it was 244 marks at the 45th percentile. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates, including PwBD candidates, the cut-off was 226 marks at the 40th percentile.

The qualifying marks also fell across the categories compared with 2025. The General/EWS cut-off was 262, down from 276 last year. For General PwBD candidates, the qualifying score fell by 11 marks, while the SC/ST/OBC cut-off was nine marks lower. The maximum score was also reduced, from the 800 cited for the previous years to 720 in 2026.

NEET PG 2026 Toppers: AIR 1 Scores 641 Marks

The top candidate secured AIR 1 with 641 marks out of 720. The second-ranked candidate scored 633 marks, followed by 626 marks at AIR 3. The top 20 candidates scored between 614 and 641 marks.

The AIR 1 candidate has been identified by The Times of India as Dr Monish Kanna R.

Squadron Leader Pallakshi Prasad, an Armed Forces Medical College alumna serving at Air Force Station Kanpur, secured AIR 2 with 633 marks.

NEET PG 2026 Scorecard and Question-Wise Information

NBEMS will make individual scorecards and detailed question-wise information available from October 1, 2026. For each question, candidates will be able to view the question ID number, the official correct answer, and their recorded response.

Careers360 reported discrepancies ranging from 50 to 100 marks between expected scores and actual scores reported by some candidates. NBEMS has said it will provide question-wise information to candidates from October 1. Until then, its examination policy does not permit candidates to share or reproduce examination content, including the question papers.

NEET PG 2026 Counselling: What Happens After the Result?

Counselling for 50% of the All India Quota postgraduate medical seats is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), while state authorities conduct counselling for the remaining seats. The MCC NEET PG 2026 counselling schedule has not been announced yet.

Andhra Pradesh Debars 172 Candidates From Counselling

The Andhra Pradesh counselling data also account for 172 candidates who have been excluded from the process. Of these, 21 did not report to seats allotted during the 2025-26 stray round, while 151 had discontinued their postgraduate courses, according to MedAdmit, which cited a Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences notice.

The next set of examination-related details is due on October 1, when scorecards and question-wise answer information are scheduled to be released.
