A woman in Delhi discovered 8 cockroaches in a plain dosa that was served to her at Delhi’s Madras Coffee House which is located in Connaught Place. She shared the video on Instagram and wrote that this is not a heart-wrenching truth, but rather a gut-wrenching one.

The woman named Ishani described what she encountered at the Madras Coffee House in her Instagram post. This incident happened on March 7 in Delhi. Ishani along with her friend visited the popular Madras Coffee House at Connaught Place. They ordered two dosas. After having a few bites she discovered black spots. she discerned something odd and picked it up from her plate. Soon it was found that the black spots were cockroaches. Upon close examination, she discovered a total of 8 cockroaches present in plain dosa that served to her.

She immediately asked her friend to document a video of the distressing incident. But, the hotel staff obstructed them from recording the full video of the incident. Ishani along with her friend immediately informed the incident to the police and filed a complaint at the local police station in Delhi. The police also assured to probe the issue.

In her Instagram post, she said that she shared all the details of the incident with all the concerned authorities for food sanitation and hygiene and shared the video as proof. She said she is not going to stay silent until action has been taken against the restaurant. Responding to the video one user said this is so terrible, they must be held accountable for sure. Another said she had done a great job, exposing them with the evidence.

Ishani asserted that the restaurant owner failed to produce a valid license for the restaurant when the police asked. In her post, about the restaurant’s condition, she said that she does not understand how on a busy Thursday with 30 customers walking in every hour can a restaurant so reputed be so careless. Describing the restaurant’s kitchen she said that the kitchen had an obnoxious odor and half of it had no roof. She said she was disgusted by what she had seen and she would not settle for this and also expressed that she has all rights to safety, even food safety.

Ishani said that “I am not the one in need of support here. All of us are. So that we can enjoy our meals without worrying about what went behind it. This is about basic health and sanitation, and we won't settle her compromise. Help me to take this issue up, so that a business runs around. It's CUSTOMERS not COST-SAVINGS”.

She expressed her concerns that this incident has left a bad taste in her mouth and raised lots of questions in her mind about the license and operation of the cafe.

Ishani said that she would always be concerned about ordering food at any restaurant now and she would always wonder if their level of hygiene is maintained. She also said that do the authorities frequently visit the restaurants to check their hygiene level and licenses, if they do, then such incidents would not happen.

Responding to the incident, Anubhav Nanda, who manages the operation of Madras Coffee House told the portal that it is unfortunate that this incident occurred at their restaurant. They apologized for the inconvenience and the lapses.
