Journalist Tarun Shukla while traveling in IndiGo Airlines spotted cockroaches crawling into the food area of the airline. He shared the video on the X platform and it went viral. In his X post, he mentioned that cockroaches in the food area of a plane (or anywhere, for that matter) are truly awful and also said one hopes IndiGo takes a hard look at its fleet and checks how this even happened, given that it normally flies relatively new Airbus A320.

After the Journalist shared the video, it went viral and Indigo Airlines responded to the journalist's X post. Tarun Shukla, in another tweet, shared IndiGo Airlines’ response, saying that they are aware of the video that was circulated on social media showing an unclean corner in one of their aircraft. Their staff promptly took the necessary action onboard. As a precautionary measure, they immediately cleaned the entire fleet and carried out fumigation and disinfection procedures. They also said that at IndiGo, they maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene to ensure a safe, hassle-free experience and regret any inconvenience caused to the passengers.

Users commented on Tarun Shukla’s X post, one user said that regular pest control is a must, and another said they need to fumigate their flight kitchens and catering trucks first, and international flights are worst, always run late, and no complimentary drinks were given either. They would avoid flying again on IndiGo international flight, said another.

This is not the first time IndiGo Airlines has been on the news, in April last year, a passenger shared a video of a cockroach crawling on their table while eating a meal at one of the IndiGo Airlines. A professional dietician, Kushboo Gupta found worms in the food that was served to her and shared the video on her Instagram handle. In October 2022, another passenger spotted cockroaches inside the flight traveling from Patna to Delhi.
