The National Testing Agency has started acting preemptively to safeguard the authenticity of the NEET-UG 2025 medical entrance exam by flagging more than 1,500 suspicious claims of a possible paper leak. These cases are said to have been forwarded for action by the Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, according to sources from PTI.

Under the Radar of Social Media Platforms

According to the new probe of the NTA, 106 channels on Telegram and 16 pages on Instagram have been found spreading wrong and misleading news regarding the NEET-UG 2025 paper. These spaces are believed to be causing unnecessary panic among students.

"Acting on inputs received through its recently-launched Suspicious Claims Reporting Portal, the NTA has identified 106 Telegram and 16 Instagram channels engaged in spreading misinformation and attempting to mislead students," a source said.

The NTA has moved swiftly to take up the issue with the I4C so that legal and cyber-forensic assistance can be acquired to help track down the administrators behind such groups.

"These cases have been formally escalated to the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs for further legal and investigative action," the source added.

New Reporting Portal Proves Important

Most of these leads have been picked up from the NTA's newly launched Suspicious Claims Reporting Portal, designed to crowdsource information about falsehoods in claims. Called 'suspicious claims reporting portal', alerts for the incident were so quick in identifying and flagging potential threats to exam integrity.

Authorities are also urging Telegram and Instagram to shut down the accused channels immediately. Plus, platform providers are asked to give law enforcement the details of group administrators to catalyze the immediate investigation and, when necessary, prosecution.

"Telegram and Instagram have been urged to share the details of the administrators and creators of these groups with law-enforcement agencies for prompt investigation and prosecution," the source said.

Ministry Tightens Nationwide Security Measures

With NEET-UG 2025 set for May 4, the Ministry of Education (MoE) is enhancing security. A series of coordinated meetings with district magistrates and top police officials are underway to prevent any irregularities.

This comes in light of concerns raised by last year’s allegation of paper leaks and exam irregularities. The MoE approach this year is multi-layered oversight and checks, and cyber surveillance intended to win back and reassure public trust in one of India’s most significant entrance examinations.

NTA Assures Students: No Possibility for Disruption

The NTA again reiterated that it will conduct the examination fairly and securely and discouraged any students from paying attention to unverified assertions or panic-generating rumors present on the internet.

Students should keep track of NTA announcements and concentrate on their preparation while authorities make all necessary arrangements to conduct the examination smoothly.
