A 24-year-old patient in Mathuradas Mathur (MDM) hospital died due to a disruption of oxygen supply caused by a power shutdown in the hospital.

Gopal Bhati is a patient with lung cancer from Osian who was admitted for treatment in the Red Zone of the trauma center in MDM hospital. He died on Friday due to a disruption of oxygen supply caused by a power cut in the hospital, which led to the breakdown of the generator and the dysfunction of the ventilator.

The patient's family member, Gopal Bhati, complained that the doctor on duty was absent and the nurses could not handle the situation during the power shutdown. They said that the patient would have been saved if they made an alternative arrangement immediately. They also said that the patient died before the new oxygen cylinder was arranged by the hospital.

The ACO of West, Narendra Dayma, while speaking with TOI said that the patient was under ventilator support in the red zone of the trauma center. At 4 a.m., there was a power shutdown in the hospital, which caused the ventilator to drop oxygen flow.

Vikas Rajpurohit, superintendent of the MDM hospital, said that the oxygen point of the patient was switched, but he died and added that the generator of the hospital had been switched off immediately. He said that they started to inquire about the matter, and the person found guilty will be prosecuted.

A meeting was held by Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, and he inquired about the incident from the hospital superintendent. He also ordered the hospital administration to take action against the failure of the ventilator support due to the absence of a power backup system.

The Chief Medical and Health Officer, Kuldeep Singh, and two nurses, Omaram and Manisha, were issued an Awaited Posting Order (APO) by the hospital superintendent under the direction of Gajendra Singh Khinsvar, Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister.
